Google Ads management

Google Ads management for South African businesses

Google Ads can put you in front of people at the moment they search for what you sell. It can also burn through a budget with little to show. We manage campaigns to enquiries and revenue, keep ad spend separate and visible, and report in plain language so you can check what your money did.

What Google Ads management involves

Google Ads is Google’s paid advertising platform. You bid for the chance to appear when people search, browse or watch, and you pay when someone clicks or, depending on the campaign, when they take a specific action. Managing it means choosing what to advertise, who to show it to, how much to pay and what to do with the people who respond.

Good management is mostly judgement applied steadily: cutting waste, testing messages, improving the page people land on and connecting results to real enquiries. It is not a one-off set-up that runs itself.

The main campaign types

  • Search. Text ads that appear when someone searches a phrase related to your service. Usually the first place to start, because the buyer is already looking.
  • Performance Max. An automated campaign type that runs across Google’s channels. It can work well with strong tracking and good assets, and it can waste money without them.
  • Display and YouTube. Visual ads for awareness and remarketing to people who have already visited your site.
  • Shopping. Product listings for online stores.

How we manage your campaigns

1. Agree what a good result is

We start with the outcome, such as a qualified enquiry, a booked call or a sale, and work out what you can afford to pay for one. That number guides every decision.

2. Fix the tracking first

We set up conversion tracking in Google Ads and GA4 so you can see which clicks lead to enquiries. Without that, any report is guesswork.

3. Build tightly structured campaigns

We group keywords by intent, write ads that match the search, add negative keywords to block irrelevant clicks and set budgets you control.

4. Improve the page people land on

A strong ad pointing at a weak page loses money. We review the landing page, the form and the message, and recommend or make changes. See our content marketing and SEO services for how the pieces fit.

5. Optimise and report

We review search terms, adjust bids and budgets, test new ads and send a report in plain language. You see spend, results and what we changed.

In the Authority programme, we optimise and report weekly. Other arrangements are agreed in writing.

How Google Ads fits with SEO

Paid and organic search do different jobs. Ads work immediately and stop when you stop paying. SEO builds over months and keeps working. Most businesses benefit from both, in proportions that depend on how soon they need enquiries and how competitive their market is.

Ads also generate useful data, such as which phrases bring enquiries and which messages convince, that can shape your SEO and content. Our guide on the difference between SEO and PPC sets out how to choose, and our article on digital marketing with Google Ads covers practical tips.

What we will not do

  • Guarantee positions or results. Costs and competition change, and nobody controls Google’s auctions.
  • Hide your ad spend. Your budget goes to the platform, separate from our fee, and every rand is reported.
  • Chase clicks that do not matter. We judge campaigns on enquiries and revenue, not impressions.
  • Lock you into a long contract. Retainers run for a minimum of three months, then month to month.

Some regulated advertisers, such as those in financial services or healthcare, face extra platform and professional rules. We check what applies before launch.

How we set your budget and judge the return

A common question is how much to spend. The honest answer is that it depends on what a click costs in your market and what an enquiry is worth to you, so we work that out together before you commit to a large budget.

Start with a test

We usually begin with a modest, agreed test budget on the searches closest to buying. That tells us what clicks cost, which phrases bring genuine enquiries and what the cost per enquiry looks like, without risking more than you chose.

Judge by cost per enquiry and quality

Clicks and impressions are easy to inflate and tell you little. We measure the cost of each enquiry and, wherever you can share it, how many of those enquiries become customers and what they are worth. A cheap lead that never buys is not a good result.

Scale what works

When the numbers show a campaign returns more than it costs, we recommend increasing its budget. When they do not, we change the message, the audience or the page, or we recommend stopping. Spending more is never the goal in itself.

We tell you what we see each month in plain words, and we always show your spend next to your results.

What it costs

There are two costs: our management fee and your ad spend. Your ad spend is paid to Google and is not part of our fee.

Who this suits

Google Ads works best when people already search for what you sell, you can follow up enquiries quickly and you can tell what an enquiry is worth. It is a weak fit if your offer is brand new and nobody searches for it yet, if you have no budget to test, or if your website cannot convert visitors. In those cases we will suggest fixing the foundation first.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I spend on Google Ads?

It depends on your market and goals. We set a test budget with you based on what a click and an enquiry cost in your category, then adjust as we learn. Your ad spend is paid to Google and is separate from our fee.

How much does Google Ads management cost?

Management is included in our Authority programme, from R27,500 a month. The Social + Paid package, R14,500 a month, covers paid advertising on one channel. For Google Ads on its own, we quote a fixed price after a short discovery call.

How quickly will I see results?

Ads can generate traffic within days, but it takes weeks of data to judge what is working and to improve it. We report on enquiries as soon as they appear.

Do you guarantee a number of leads?

No. Costs and competition change. We commit to the work we will do, report openly and measure against your enquiries and revenue.

Do I own the Google Ads account?

Yes. Your account and data stay yours, and you can see everything we do in it.

Is there a minimum contract?

Retainers run for a minimum of three months so there is time to see results, then month to month on 30 days’ notice.

Do I need SEO as well?

Often, yes. Ads give quick traffic while SEO builds lasting visibility. We help you balance the two based on your goals.
